Woo! From all the hashtags and twitter nonsense surrounding the quote " January was a long year", I just have to say real quick that I AGREE! January was wildly long and super eventful. My husband deployed, the semester started, everybody and they mama was at the gym, and I made a whole bunch of realizations about myself. Some of which I will share right here in this blog. So, without any further fluff or mumbo jumbo, here we go.
1.) I Don't Have To Make Money Off Everything I'm Good At
There is a voice in the back of my mind telling me that if I am good at it...SELL IT. That voice is on its way out of my mind with the swiftness. I am over the idea that everything has to be capitalized on. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to sing. Performing has always been my happiness and will continue to be ( I am even a Theatre Performance major), but I no longer am interested in performing on a larger scale. i don't care to sing or act for money. I'm simply evolving into a person who does that for fun and solace and that is OKAY. Finding and living my truth will always be tough, but this doesn't have to be. I am more interested in using my craft as a means to help people reintegrate into society and that's pretty damn awesome.
2.) Isolation Does Not Yield Success
I just recently watched a YouTube video by Joulzy explaining her testimony and frustration with the idea that we have to go into isolation or abandon our relationships in order to "focus" on anything. It is not only incorrect, but it is toxic. A large mistake we young adults tend to make when we are in our #grindtimes. I thought about it for a while and decided....SHE IS SO RIGHT. Allow yourself the opportunity to win with people beside you who inspire and support. Don't just leave them hanging. When you get to the top, who you gonna call to celebrate?
3.) My Husband's Family Is Awesome
Anyone who knows me knows my husband is the best thing since sliced bread, but his family? Y'ALL I LOVE THEM! Now that Kalin has deployed the amount of calls I get from them just to check on me or come see me is overwhelming in itself. I expected this from my family, but did not from his. It's so lovely having two families who care genuinely. If y'all are reading this, LOVE YOU <3
4.) I Got My Dream Internship!
I just recently landed a Theatre Education internship with the Rose Theater in Omaha, Nebraska and I couldn't be MORE excited for this summer!
There are so many more amazing things, but those were just a few! Claim your success, y'all! Until next time. #holla
